Technically, there are 6 Disney World parks – 4 iconic theme parks and 2 water parks:

Best Time to Visit Disney World
If you’re looking for low ticket prices, lighter crowds, shorter wait times, and even better restaurant reservation availability, this can help.

The cheapest time to visit Disney World is early January until Presidents Day weekend in February:
- Cheapest Time = early January until Presidents Day weekend in February
- Second Cheapest Time = early November through mid-December, not including Thanksgiving week
- Cheapest Month for Park Tickets = September
If you’re looking for exact dates, then be sure to check out this full list of the most affordable weeks at Disney World this year.

During these dates, there’s a really good chance that you can experience lower than normal wait times for most attractions, better Disney hotel room rates, and a lot more available restaurant reservations at decent times.
Cheapest Times to Stay at a Disney Hotel
- Cheapest Month to Stay at a Disney hotel = early January to February
I always use this room rate chart by MouseSavers which outlines the starting rate for every day/week of the year for every Disney hotel.
If you are looking for the cheapest Disney World hotels, I got 10 of them.
Cheapest Month for Holiday Parties
The cheapest month for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is August (excluding the first date).
And the cheapest month for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is early November (excluding the first date)
Save Money at Disney
Regardless of what vacation you go on, saving money without any major sacrifices is always my endgame.
Here are some of my most effective ways to save money at Disney World without skimping out on the fun:
- Buy tickets from Undercover Tourist
- Skip the Park Hopper ticket add-on
- Visit when kids are 2 and under since they are free
- Skip Lightning Lane Single Pass
- Don’t eat breakfast inside the parks
- Skip Signature Restaurants
- Skip the Disney Dining Plan
- Book a Villa if you need 2 rooms
- Skip the Club Level Room
- Don’t book the Premium room views at Deluxe Resorts
- Visit during the “off-season”
- Rent Disney Vacation Club points
- Visit the holiday parties during the first two weeks
- Don’t rent a car if you don’t plan on leaving WDW
- Skip the Minnie Vans
For the full list of over 100 money-saving tips for tickets, food, hotels, and transpiration, check this out.
Worst Times to Visit Disney World
In my mind, the worst times to visit Disney World is usually when it’s at it’s busiest and most expensive.
This is generally when you can expect Disney World tickets, room rates, and wait times to be the highest:
- New Year’s Day
- MLK Jr. weekend
- Presidents Day weekend
- Easter week
- Spring Break week
- Memorial Day weekend
- 4th of July week
- Labor Day weekend
- Thanksgiving week
- Christmas week and New Year’s Eve
Worst Day of the Week for Each Park
These are the worst days of the week to visit each park due to longer wait times.
- Magic Kingdom = Monday
- Epcot = Monday
- Animal Kingdom = Friday
- Hollywood Studios = Monday
Disney World Ticket Options and Prices
In this section, I break down everything you’d ever need to know about buying tickets for Disney World, including some cool discounts you can take advantage of to save some money.

Here’s are the 1-Day 1 Park Per Day ticket prices:
- Magic Kingdom = $134 – $189
- Epcot = $119 – $179
- Animal Kingdom = $109 – $164

- 1 Park Per Day (adult) = $462 – $640 per person
- 1 Park Per Day (kid) = $446 – $622 per person
I believe most people will buy a 4-Day Ticket since there’s 4 parks so I’m only going to includes prices for this multi-day ticket.
For a full list of ticket prices per person, check out my ticket chart.

How to Get to Walt Disney World Resort
You can get to Disney World a handful a ways, the two most popular being by driving and flying.
Driving to Disney World
You really don’t need a car at Disney World due to it’s extensive complimentary transportation network but if you prefer to drive over fly, here’s everything you need to know.
And in case you were curious, here are the addresses for all four parks:

These hotels also offer free overnight self parking.
Flying to Disney World
There are two major airports that you can fly into with close proximity to Disney World:

MCO will have the most domestic and international flights daily and is serviced by many major airlines. It’s also 25 miles away to Walt Disney World Resort.

Split Stay at a Disney World Hotel
When you book two or more Disney hotels during your vacation, Bell Services can transfer your luggage to the next hotel free of charge.
This is especially great if you wanted to stay at a Deluxe hotel for a couple nights and then finish up your trip at a Value hotel.
You technically can’t book a Split Stay online at time of booking, so in order for this to happen, you’ll need two separate hotel reservations with the second one starting on the checkout date of your first hotel.
Disney Hotels that Allow Dogs
There are 4 Disney World hotels that have designated dog-friendly rooms and amenities:
- Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort
- Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
- Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside
- Disney’s Yacht Club Resort
You can only bring up to 2 dogs per room (no cats).
To book a dog-friendly room at one of the hotels mentioned above, you must call (407)-939-7539.

There are a handful of non-Disney properties located within Walt Disney World Resort. Here are my favorites:

- Hilton Signia Bonnet Creek
- JW Marriott Orlando Bonnet Creek
- Wyndham Bonnet Creek
- Drury Plaza Disney Springs
Plus, quite a few can be booked with credit card and hotel loyalty points.

The number of hotels in this theme park triangle (SeaWorld, Universal Studios, and Disney) is astonishing and almost impossible to list.
That said, whatever budget you have, there’s a hotel for you, many of which are within close proximity to Disney property.

That said, if you have flexible travel dates, I think it’s a no-brainer to book a trip during the Free Disney Dining Plan promotion.
If you wanted to learn more about the DDP, I have a few resources for you:

When to Start Planning
I wrote a quick and easy to follow Disney World trip planning timeline and checklist article that can help you plan up to 8 months in advance.
Check it out here:
Future Rides and Lands
There’s honestly nothing too major that’s been announced at Walt Disney World besides some speculation for a 5th park and the upcoming re-imagining at Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom.
Animal Kingdom Expansion (TBD)
Animal Kingdom’s Dinoland USA and beyond is getting re-imagined to include the following:
- DinoRama transforming into Casa Madrigal (Encanto)
- Dinosaur transforming to Indiana Jones Adventure
- Dinoland Dig Site transforming into Tropical Americas Area
- Restaurantasaurus transforming into Tropic America’s restaurant
Magic Kingdom Expansion (RUMOR)
Supposedly the land behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is going to be the home of some new lands, including a possible villains land.
This is all speculation but I expect to hear some announcements at D23.
5th Park
Disney World got the green light to build a potential fifth park. No details have been announced but this looks like a real possibility in the distant future as they have around $17B to play with.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
Splash Mountains re-theming is officially complete with the opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and I must say, it’s actually pretty great!
Final Thoughts
Hopeful this Disney World planning guide was straight-forward and super helpful.
Because at the end of the day, planning for a Disney World trip is honestly pretty easy.
Sure it can get stressful (and expensive) at times, especially when it comes to virtual queues and advanced dining reservations. But as long as you have you Lighting Lane selections made and your favorite dining spots secured prior to visiting, you’ll have no issues have a great time.
And if you ever have any questions, please be sure to send me a DM on Instagram and I’ll get back to you ASAP.
