Personally, I don’t think you really need to bring that much cash on Disney Cruise.
Sure you’ll need some for tips as well as a little bit of local currency if you’re going on an excursion, but on the ship itself, you’ll never need to use cash due in part that your stateroom card is also your charge card.
What You’ll Need Cash For
But, if you do need to bring a little cash with you, here’s how I usually bring on my cruises:
Cash for Excursions
- Bahamas and Caribbean = $300 -$400 US dollars
- Europe = $500 (or Euros)
- Alaska = $200 in 20s for excursion gratuities
Cash for Tips
Disney recommends around $15 per night per stateroom guest for gratuities and $16 for Concierge guests.
- $100 – $200 for gratuities if you’re feeling generous
Cash on the Ship
- $0
Sometimes I’ll bring like $20 for tips if I’m dropping off bags at Port Canaveral, but once I get on the ship, I honestly put my wallet away at that point.
…
It is recommend that you bring between $200 and $500 in cash on a Disney Cruise to the Bahamas, Alaska, Caribbean, and Europe especially if you have excisions planned.
But if you don’t plan on getting off the ship, you honestly won’t need much unless you plan on leaving some tips for your servers and stateroom host.
